This summer the San Diego Junior Theatre scales the barricades to premiere one of the most popular musicals ever, Les Misérables. An expansive cast of 65 young performers from throughout San Diego County headline this family-friendly production of the Broadway hit.

Based on the 19^th-century epic novel by Victor Hugo, Les Miz (as it’s commonly known) centers on the struggles of ex-convict Jean Valjean. His quest for redemption takes him from poverty and prison to becoming mayor of a small town to fighting heroically in revolutionary France, all the while caring for his adopted daughter, Cosette, and evading the clutches of the persistent Inspector Javert.

The cast of Le Miserables comprises of a group of amazing young singers, ages 8 to 18. There will be a full orchestra conducted by veteran musical director Richard Morrison. Overseeing the whole extravaganza, which is recommended for ages 10 and older, is the Junior Theatre’s own artistic director Desha Crownover.
